We warmly invite you to travel to the beautiful city of Maastricht and join us at the 2011 International Shared Decision Making conference. A growing group of people are taking an interest in shared decision making, including health care professionals, researchers, policy makers, patient representatives and others. So make sure that you are where it is all happening from June 19 to June 22, 2011.
The city of Maastricht one of the the oldest in the Netherlands, lies in the centre of Europe and is far more European than Dutch. In 1992, 12 European countries signed the Treaty of Maastricht there, which led to the introduction of the Euro. Maastricht ultimately owes its name to the Romans, who called the place Mosae Trajectum, meaning ‘passage across the river Meuse’. To get an impression of the town, please watch this 2:26 minute video.
Crossing borders and building bridges between research and practice is what we will try to achieve in this conference. We hope to learn from experts and patient representatives within and beyond the shared decision making community how we can effectively implement shared decision making in health care.
We have managed to find a highly convenient conference venue situated directly on the river Meuse (or ‘Maas’ in Dutch) in the centre of our famous town. There are several quality hotels, in a range of prices, within 5 minutes walking distance from the venue. And of course, we will offer you a very interesting scientific program, with internationally renowned keynote presenters, workshops before and during the conference, and symposia.
We look forward to greeting you in Maastricht!
